Elizabeth II: completely new photos of the young Queen during her vacation unveiled

A few days before her Platinum Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II is still revealed through new unpublished images of her youth.

  • The Platinum Jubilee marking 70 years of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign will take place June 2-5, 2022
  • A never-before-seen documentary was made on the occasion with recorded commentary by the Queen
  • Images of Queen Elizabeth II young and with family are unveiled there for the first time

Good news for fans of Queen Elizabeth II. The beginning of June will mark the celebrations of its Platinum Jubilee, 70 years of reign over the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Not only a historic event but also a new record since the sovereign thus becomes the first monarch of the United Kingdom to reign for so long. In order to really celebrate this key moment in the country’s history, many tributes are planned between June 2 and 5, 2022. The media have also put in place exceptional measures to ensure that the life of Queen Elizabeth II does not have more secrets for his subjects and for others. This is in particular the reason why an unpublished documentary will be broadcast on the BBC.

In “Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen”or literally “Elizabeth: the dark side of the queen”the life of the sovereign who celebrated his 96th birthday on April 21 is traced through archive images, some of which had no never aired until now. According to the comments of the directors of the documentary in question, the latter will be able to “offer the public the opportunity to get a glimpse of rare intimate moments in the life of the monarch“. Yes, because many images of the documentary, broadcast on Sunday May 29 on the BBC, come from videos filmed by the royal family themselves. Above the images that look back on the childhood of Queen Elizabeth II and her sister Princess Margaret, the sovereign herself recorded comments in order to contextualize the videos.

Queen Elizabeth II: “Cameras have always been a part of our lives”

The documentary “Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen” will also be an opportunity to discover never-before-seen footage of his grandfather George V but also of the Queen herself at a very young age, long before her father’s death and coronation in 1953. Although, as she explains, “cameras have always been part of our lives“, Queen Elizabeth II nevertheless underlines in the introduction to the documentary that the images taken by his own family have another flavor. It’s different when you watch a video shot at home and you know who is behind the camera. It adds a kind of intimacy. Like many families, my parents wanted to keep track of those precious moments we spent together.“Precious and privileged moments which will therefore be visible very soon thanks to the BBC documentary and which, the Queen hopes, will be of interest to the public.”We always hope that future generations will find it interesting, and may be surprised at the idea that we too were young.“.
