Delta Dore: a new Tydom Pro home automation box that integrates into the electrical panel, and communicates in ZigBee!

Delta Dore is a manufacturer that needs no introduction in home automation, in particular through its Tydom home automation boxes, and its large catalog of peripherals. The French company has just presented several new features, including two new home automation boxes, Tydom Home and Tydom Pro, the latter having the particularity of being placed directly in the electrical panel. A format that was particularly eagerly awaited by professionals. But these two boxes also see the arrival of support for the ZigBee protocol!

A more scalable connected home thanks to more open boxes

While remaining faithful to previous versions with simple and intuitive equipment control, the new generation of connected home boxes from Delta Dore is distinguished by quick installation and above all by greater compatibility with third-party brands.

Tydom Home

Aware that housing must evolve at the pace of its occupants, Delta Dore has designed Tydom Home and Tydom Pro on the principle of scalability. Thus, the new connected home boxes adapt to the needs of the household and integrate the equipment already present (backward compatibility of X2D AND X3D products) as well as future installations. Without work or decoration to redo, it becomes easy to connect individual or collective housing, new or existing. This guarantees a long-lasting installation, with ease.

Of course, Tydom Home and Tydom Pro remain compatible with Delta Dore connected equipment, but also with the biggest brands of home equipment (Atlantic, Bubendorff, K.Line, etc.). In total, no less than 400 products are compatible and controllable at your fingertips!

But a big new feature has also been announced: Tydom Home and Tydom Pro are compatible with connected sockets and bulbs on the market that use Zigbee 3.0 technology, a market standard (depending on the model and brand)! The manufacturer had indeed told us a few years ago at CES that he wanted to open up. We had to be patient, but these new boxes are there to confirm this desire!

Tydom Pro: the smallest electrical panel version on the market

If the Tydom Home offers a sleek and discreet design, with a low thickness, to be placed anywhere in the house, placed on a piece of furniture, the Tydom Pro box is the “invisible” version of Tydom Home, which we installs directly in an electrical panel. Without cutting corners on its performance, the box occupies only the equivalent of 2 modules in the electrical panel. And thanks to its external antenna, it adapts without configuration to the metal doors of electrical boxes: in fact, an innovative patented process detects the presence of wiring to redirect all the power to the external antenna, or in the absence of wiring to the radio antenna integrated in the motherboard. Thus the installer does not need to configure the software or the hardware.

Tydom Pro

Easy to install, Tydom Home and Tydom Pro are suitable for both new and renovation sites. Thus, both models have a QR code and a MAC address (Tydom Pro) to quickly access detailed information from a smartphone.

Thanks to its collaboration with more than 10,000 professionals, Delta Dore also offers a dedicated pro account in its flagship Tydom application. Available free of charge on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, this space makes it easier to configure boxes and monitor work in progress (product manuals, e-catalog, etc.). The pro account also allows better transmission of information with technical support or even with another installer.

Among the characteristics of these new boxes, we will especially note:

  • Management of connected equipment and monitoring of consumption remotely or locally, from a smartphone and/or tablet using the free Tydom application
  • Compatibility with over 400 products
  • Voice control with Amazon Alexa voice assistants and the Google Assistant
  • Integration of Zigbee 3.0 sockets and bulbs (depending on the models and brands)
  • Backward compatibility with X2D and X3D products (Tydom 1.0)

And for professionals, in particular:

  • Quick access to box information using QR codes and MAC addresses (Tydom Pro)
  • Possible recovery of Tydom 1.0 configurations (excluding voice assistants)
  • The configuration of the installation from a smartphone and/or a tablet
  • Monitoring of ongoing projects and access to useful information (product manuals, e-catalogue, etc.)
  • Sharing information with technical support or another installer

Guaranteed for 5 years, the Tydom Home is announced at a price of €197, and €209 for the Tydom Pro version.

Important detail: Tydom 1.0 customers can automatically migrate to this box. In June, a version of the application will allow automatic migration of the configuration from Tydom 1.0 to Tydom Home or Pro. Existing installations will therefore be able to take advantage of the latest Delta Dore innovations without having to reconfigure everything manually.

A new “Easy” ZigBee range

Delta Dore is taking advantage of the ZigBee compatibility of its new boxes to strengthen its smart home offer with “Easy”: a new range of connected sockets and bulbs compatible with the new Tydom Home and Tydom Pro home automation boxes. Ultra-easy to install, these intelligent solutions open to the Zigbee protocol allow you to control all electrical devices and control and monitor your energy consumption in real time.

easy smart plug

Compatible with most electrical devices, Easy connected sockets allow real-time control and monitoring of the energy consumption of all connected equipment via the Tydom application, independently thanks to daily, monthly or annual readings.

The new range of Easy connected bulbs allows you to change the atmosphere according to your desires: color, intensity, on, off… Controllable with a simple gesture at home or remotely thanks to the box and the Tydom app, or by voice thanks to voice assistants, they respond on command to the desires of users. Useful in case you forget, the application allows you to check that all the lights in the home are off. The astronomical function allows you to turn your lights on or off in the rooms of your choice, depending on sunrise and sunset.

tydom app2

As its name suggests, it is extremely simple to use. For smart plugs, simply plug them into the wall outlet. Fan, television, auxiliary heating, kettle, electric vehicle, lamp… they are compatible with the majority of electrical appliances (up to 16 A)! For connected bulbs, they are easily screwed in like standard bulbs.

And thanks to the repeater function, the sockets and bulbs extend the range of the Zigbee signal to all the products installed in the house!

Well, the prices are unfortunately high compared to the ZigBee competitors we are used to: it will indeed cost 48€ for a bulb (available in E27, E14 and GU10 format), and 62€ for the connected socket.

It remains to be seen which third-party devices will be supported, ZigBee being a standardized protocol and normally compatible from one manufacturer to another.
